In 1984, I enrolled in the Art Institute of Houston with dreams of becoming a fashion illustrator. Graduating in 1985 with an Associates of Arts degree, I moved to New York City with grand ideals. The art of illustrating fashion was on its way out, so like many other young artists, I did not land that great job in the fashion industry.
